Welcome to Midland Voices [2009 - 2019] This is our TENTH YEAR!! but it is NOT our last!

Two more concerts are booked on December 7th 2019 and June 27th 2020.

Important notice for Sunday 1 September launch

Since we were last at Myton School, substantial changes have been made to security on the site, which restricts vehicle access at certain times.

Large controlled metal gates are now in place. These will be open for us when we arrive for the launch on Sunday afternoon, but in addition there is a height barrier above vehicles which is place all the time. Please therefore take great care if you have a vehicle which might either have some height to it or which has a high suspension.

If you are affected, then please park considerately at the edges of the turning circle outside the gates. Whilst it is unlikely that there would be insufficent room, on this occasion, perhaps those who normally park in the circle (perhaps to avoid the queue at the end?) would consider parking inside the grounds. We can then have some discussion at the rehearsal when further information will be available see photo of barrier

This exciting singing organisation for the Midlands was formed ten years ago in 2009, and was directed by Barry Todd from its launch in February 2009 to June 2019.

The organisation started with one main choir rehearsing on Monday evenings, and this choir typically has over 200 members and normally gives its concerts, with the 40 piece Midland Voice Orchestra, at Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick.

From September 2019 Chris Wiltshire, our accompanist and more, is taking over as MD. Barry will continue to be involved in the background. Two concert dates are already fixed, December 7th 2019 and June 27th 2020

Two smaller "Daytime" choirs that rehearse during the day, will continue to be led by Barry in Whitnash, Leamington on Thursdays and in Balsall Common on Tuesdays.

The Daytime choirs each have a facebook page,

Balsall Singers join us on facebook and Leamington Singers join us on facebook

So Midland Voices offers a choice of three choirs, and a number of concerts each year: the main choir with unique opportunities to sing with the Midand Voice Orchestra at Warwick Arts Centre, and other performances by the daytime choirs to raise funds for local charities. The total raised for charities to 2016, is an amazing £60,000.

New Singers are always welcome. There are no auditions for the chorus, and all singers have the opportunity to audition to perform solo parts, duets or ensemble pieces in each of the concerts.

Barry's Surprise Afternoon Party 21st July 2019

Barry had a fabulous Suprise Party organised by Kirsty. He was Flash Mobbed to our adopted theme tune Anthem, and later presented with a leather bound book with contributions from the choir members and images from his 10 years as MD loving prepared by Carolyn and bound and boxed by Rodney. Download a copy here.

He was also presented with a Video Slide Show covering the History of Midland Voices - you can view any or all 13 parts (it is about 80 minutes in total). Click here to see playlist .
