Welcome to Midland Voices [2009 – 2019] This is our TENTH YEAR!! but it is NOT our last!

Two more concerts are booked on December 7th 2019 and June 27th 2020.

Reg Cox

Members and friends of the choir and orchestra will be very sorry to learn that our very good friend Reg Cox passed away in the early hours of 6 October.

Reg has been a member of the choir since its inception and throughout the existence of Sing Live Central with which many of us were involved prior to the creation of Midland Voices.

He made a big contribution to the choir, both in his regular place in the basses, and through the many solos that he sang in the main concerts, with the Daytime choirs and at Christmas.

He will be greatly missed, and our love, thoughts and prayers are with Reg’s family and friends at this sad time.

His funeral is on 24th October at 10:30 South Chapel, Oakley Wood Crematorium, Family flowers only please donations may be made to "WNAA" (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance) via heart of England funeral care website click here see also his obituary and to make a donation

The rehearsal of Leamington Singers "daytime" choir at Whitnash is cancelled on 24th October but an extra rehearsal will be held on the 31st October

This exciting singing organisation for the Midlands was formed ten years ago in 2009, and was directed by Barry Todd from its launch in February 2009 to June 2019.

The organisation started with one main choir rehearsing on Monday evenings, and this choir typically has over 200 members and normally gives its concerts, with the 40 piece Midland Voice Orchestra, at Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick.

From September 2019 Chris Wiltshire, our accompanist and more, succeeded Barry as MD for the main choir. Barry and Carol will continue to be responsible for all the background arrangements, logistics and planning for the whole company. The next two concert dates have already been fixed for December 7th 2019 and June 27th 2020.

Barry and Carol will continue to lead the two smaller 'Daytime' choirs that rehearse during the day in Whitnash, Leamington on Thursdays, and in Balsall Common on Tuesdays.

The Daytime choirs each have a facebook page: Balsall Singers join us on facebook and Leamington Singers join us on facebook

So Midland Voices offers a choice of three choirs, and a number of concerts each year: the main choir with unique opportunities to sing with the Midand Voice Orchestra at Warwick Arts Centre, and other performances by the daytime choirs to raise funds for local charities. The total raised for charities to 2016, is an amazing £60,000.

New Singers are always welcome. There are no auditions for the chorus, and all singers have the opportunity to audition to perform solo parts, duets or ensemble pieces in each of the concerts.

Barry's Surprise Afternoon Party 21st July 2019

Barry had a fabulous Suprise Party organised by Kirsty. He was 'flash mobbed' to our adopted theme tune Anthem, and later presented with a leather bound book with contributions from the choir members and images from his 10 years as MD, lovingly prepared by Carolyn, and bound and boxed by Rodney. Download a copy here.

He was also presented with a video slide show covering the history of Midland Voices - you can view any or all 13 parts (it is about 80 minutes in total). Click here to see playlist .
